Write from dictation

Introduction

Write from dictation is a PTE task that tests your ability to listen to a recording of 3-5 seconds, understand its meaning and write that sentence in the text box provided on the screen.

There are a total of 3 to 4 write from dictation tasks in the exam.

Please memorize the mind map given at the top, these activities need to be followed in the mentioned sequence. It is essential for success.

Critical stuff

• Use the initial 7 seconds to place the cursor in the text box and be ready for the recording to begin.
• While the recording plays, focus on the meaning of the sentence.
• Write the complete sentence without adding or removing any words.
• Click next once finished as the timer will keep on running.

The Sequence of steps for the write from dictation PTE task

1. A timer counts down 7 seconds.
2. Utilize that time to place your cursor in the text box provided on the screen.
3. Listen to the recording carefully and comprehend the meaning of the sentence.
4. keep repeating the sentence you heard in your memory.
5. Write the sentence in the textbox provided on the screen immediately.
6. After writing the sentence check it for any spelling mistakes.
7. Ensure that the first alphabet of that sentence is a capital letter and end the sentence with a full stop.
8. Click next once you have finished writing the sentence.
